About
Me
My names Emma Harrison and
I live in Ayrshire with my two children.
I first became interested in birth after
the birth of my son and being a birthing partner
Both my births were very different in that my second birth was natural
and I couldn't believe that by making simple informed choices you
could totally change the way your child is born.
Soon after having my son, I joined the National Childbirth Trust
(NCT) where I became branch secretary then moved on to a regional
committee position.

I started antenatal training
with the NCT in June 2006 and will be teaching by early 2009.
For the past 3 years I have been working as a nursing auxiliary
in a mother and baby unit. My duties there include providing new
mothers with emotional support and also help care for their babies
by assisting with bathing, feeding, settling babies and encouraging
routine. I have also been present at 2 births. This position is
what prepared me for becoming a doula.
I have been been disclosure Scotland checked (enhanced)
I have attended various study days and conferences relating to pregnancy
and birth and as well as other days such as Food Hygiene, Moving
and Handling, smoking cessation (certificates available on request)
